Viva Las Vegas 3/1-3/6

Matt and I headed to Las Vegas to celebrate our 15 year anniversary.   We flew from Grand Rapids to Chicago to Las Vegas…one problem…the winds were to high in Las Vegas that we were not able to land.  The plane didn’t have enough fuel to circle for any length of time to we were diverted to Denver.  We were on the ground in Denver for about an hour…then back up again and to Las Vegas.  We got to our hotel, the Luxor, at 3:30am Las Vegas time – 6:30am Michigan time!

We spent lots of time wandering “the Strip.”  The New York New York was one of our favorites because it looked like a skyline, but was actually one building…the roller coaster was pretty fun to watch too!

The Bellagio was one of my favorites….the Chihuly glass ceiling was amazing!

We loved wandering through the Venetian…it really did look like Venice!

The Strip at night!

On Sunday we rented a car for the day….a 2012 Ford Mustang Convertible…so fun!!!

We drove to the Hoover Dam…..we took a dam tour and learned lots about the dam….a very fun time…and we learned a lot!

While on the tour we got to look out one of the ventilation tunnels…what an amazing view!  Matt loved both the dam tour and checking out the new bridge….only an engineer would find them so exciting.

One of our many self portraits….looking from the top of the dam towards the bridge!

After visiting the dam we drove to the Red Rock Canyon.  It was beautiful and quite amazing…we didn’t have time to do any hiking, but would love to go back and wander over the rocks!

After returning our fun car we took the monorail up the strip so we could see the Bellagio fountain at night.  It was amazing and “danced” to Viva Las Vegas by Elvis!

On our last day…Monday…we bummed around the Luxor…and found some comfortable seating.

We also did a little bit of gambling….lost a whole $25 while we were there!

We had a great time, but were happy to head back home to our 4 amazing kids….it has been an amazing 15 years and hope and pray for many, many more!!!
